India to Host International AI Experts at Global IndiaAI Summit

AI is seen as the next major technological milestone, and every major nation is betting on this. India, too, doesn’t want to be left behind. As a result, the Ministry of Electronics and IT has announced the Global IndiaAI Summit, which will take place at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, on July 3 and 4. Global IndiaAI Summit 2024

The summit aims to boost collaboration and knowledge exchange between international AI experts from science, industry, civil society, governments, international organisations, and academia. It will serve as a platform for stakeholders to discuss key AI issues, share insights, and address the challenges faced by the AI ecosystem.

It is structured around seven key pillars, including establishing a scalable AI computing ecosystem, developing indigenous large multimodal models, streamlining access to high-quality datasets, promoting AI applications in critical sectors, reducing barriers to AI education, supporting deep-tech AI startups, and emphasising responsible AI development.

The speaker’s list includes names from the government, such as Mr Ashwini Vaishnaw (Minister of Electronics and IT) and Mr Jitin Prasada (Minister of State for Electronics and IT). Along with that, other industry leaders like Mr Srinivas Narayanan, VP at OpenAI; Mr Raghav Gupta, Managing Director – India & Asia-Pacific for Coursera; Mr Vishal Dhupar, Managing Director, Asia South for NVIDIA; Dr Rohini Srivathsa, Chief Technology Officer for Microsoft India & South Asia; and many more.

India’s Vision with the Summit

The summit is a part of the IndiaAI Mission, a comprehensive initiative to build a robust AI ecosystem in the country. It focuses on democratising access to computing resources, enhancing data quality, and, most importantly, developing indigenous AI capabilities and attracting top AI talent.

The mission also aims to encourage industry collaboration, provide risk capital to startups, look at the societal impact of AI projects, and promote ethical AI practices.
