This series is mostly known for its performance-centric approach, and with the launch of the Realme GT 6T they are continuing the same legacy. However, Realme has changed things up a bit. For starters, the display features a local peak brightness of up to 6,000 nits — which is just insane.

The performance and gaming department is handled by the fairly new Qualcomm Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 chipset, and spoiler alert it’s a good option for gamers. Finally, you also get a chunkier 5500mAh battery inside. All these, at a starting price of Rs 30,999. While expectations from the Realme GT 6T are high considering the on-paper specs, does it truly deliver on all fronts? Let’s find out in my review.

Realme GT 6T Review: Design and Build Quality
The Realme GT 6T weighs 191 grams, which is acceptable, but the phone feels heavy in my hand. While the phone is comfortable to hold, the power button on the right feels awkwardly placed. My thumb didn’t naturally rest on it, so I had to adjust my grip to press it.

The phone features a slim form factor and is available in two colours: Fluid Silver and Razor Green. The GT 6T’s design is quite different from other Realme smartphones. The silver colourway of the phone feels a bit uninspiring, while the Razor Green’s vibrant finish attracts attention.
The glossy back panel is home to fingerprints and smudges, so carrying a microfibre cloth at all times might be required if you are a neat freak like me. The camera module is highlighted with a shinier but contrasting silver paint, creating a pleasing dual-tone effect.
The glossy texture is slippery, which caused a few drops from around the waist height. Fortunately, it didn’t suffer any scratches or dents. So, if you plan to use this phone without a case, it should hold up well.
Realme GT 6T Review: Display and Audio
The Realme GT 6T boasts a 6.78-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. A standout feature is its claimed 6000 nits local peak brightness — which is just crazy. However, it’s worth noting this insane number will not be covered by the entire display but is the brightest 1 per cent of the panel.
In real-life testing, with the extra brightness mode enabled, maxed out the brightness slider, and bright HDR video mode turned on, we could achieve a maximum brightness of 2000 nits. Without these settings enabled, the maximum brightness reaches about 1314 nits, and the minimum brightness I achieved was about 3 nits. That said, the brightness is more than adequate to use under direct sunlight.

The curved display adds a premium look and feel, and the edges do not interfere with usability. The phone supports an adaptive refresh rate ranging from 1Hz to 120Hz. Scrolling is smooth, and the app closing animations further enhance the user experience. The display is protected by Corning’s Gorilla Glass Victus 2, so unfortunate drops on the screen should be protected to an extent.
The display produces good and neutral colours with rich quality. I enjoyed watching shows like Baby Reindeer and The Big Bang Theory on Netflix. If binge-watching shows and movies is on your priority list, the Realme GT 6T won’t disappoint.
This phone features stereo speakers that deliver excellent sound quality. Even at maximum volume, the sound is crisp with details without any audible distortions. However, the back panel of the phone reverberates at higher volume levels.
Realme GT 6T Review: Performance and Software
Now, let’s jump into the real essence of this smartphone: its performance. The Realme GT 6T is driven by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 SoC, and it offers up to 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage, as shown in the table below. It breezes through daily tasks without any lags or stutters. Therefore, this phone won’t present any problems in terms of everyday functionality.

In the Antutu v10 benchmark, the Realme GT 6T achieved an impressive score of 1,465,167 points, even succeeding the similarly priced Poco F6. I conducted a gaming test on this phone, running resource-heavy titles such as BGMI and Call of Duty: Mobile.
While playing BGMI, the phone’s battery was at 96 per cent. The table below outlines the settings used, the frame rates achieved, the room and device temperatures, and the overall performance.

The phone experiences some heating but consistently maintains a frame rate of 50fps with only minor drops. Despite the back panel reaching about 42 degrees Celsius, the phone did not throttle, which is great. Additionally, after playing continuously for 90 minutes, the phone’s battery level decreased to 66 per cent, which is also a respectable number.
I also tested Call of Duty: Mobile on this phone, and here are the results I obtained.

I played for two hours and noticed some significant frame drops in certain instances. However, it didn’t notably hinder my gaming experience. However, if we bring Poco F6 into the conversation, it can support 120fps in Call of Duty: Mobile. The Realme GT 6T misses out on that. Nevertheless, both the performance and battery backup will not disappoint you.
This phone runs on Realme UI 5.0, based on Android 14. It comes with a bunch of bloatware apps. Thankfully, these apps can be uninstalled if not needed. The software offers multi-tasking, a split view, and a flexible app window. There are also numerous customisation options for the lock screen, which is advantageous. Overall, the performance is excellent, but do expect some intrusive notifications.
Additionally, Realme has promised three years of software updates and four years of security updates.
Realme GT 6T Review: Cameras
The Realme GT 6T has a 50-megapixel primary camera with OIS and an 8-megapixel ultra-wide camera on the back. It also features a 32-megapixel front-facing selfie camera. The primary camera performs well in daylight, delivering rich, detailed colours with a warm tone and consistent results.

The ultra-wide camera, however, delivers average image quality, lacking detail and struggling to capture an accurate field of view. This makes it less impressive than smartphones like the Poco F6 and the Moto Edge 50 Pro in this price segment. The selfie camera is initially set to a skin-smoothing filter by default, but when this filter is turned off, it captures accurate skin tones and even does the courtesy of revealing all pores.
The Realme GT 6T’s performance is acceptable in low-light conditions, but the camera struggles to deal with light sources properly, often creating a flare around them. The phone does a good job in portraits, though it tends to process an unnatural blur around the subject. Edge detection is generally reliable. Overall, while the camera is not this smartphone’s standout feature, it can capture good photos in most conditions.
Realme GT 6T Review: Battery and Charging
The Realme GT 6T features a 5500mAh battery, which is impressive given its slim form. It comes with a 120W charger in the box. In our charging test, the GT 6T took exactly 33 minutes to fully charge, which is excellent for those in a hurry. Although Realme claims a full charge in 26 minutes, our test showed it took 7 minutes longer, which is still equally amazing.
In the PCMark battery test, the Realme GT 6T lasted 12 hours and 40 minutes, which is good, though I expected more from the 5,500mAh battery. I used this phone for an entire day, streaming movies on Netflix, playing casual games like Subway Surfers and Clash of Clans, listening to music on YouTube, and scrolling through Instagram reels.
The battery dropped from 100 per cent to 69 per cent in 3 hours. I played high-end games like BGMI and Call of Duty: Mobile in the evening for an hour each. By the end of the day, the battery was at 21 per cent. Therefore, this phone can last a full day with light to heavy usage. So, the battery life should not disappoint you.
Realme GT 6T Review: Verdict
Now that you’ve read the entire review, you understand that the Realme GT 6T is a performance-oriented smartphone. Moreover, it also offers the best display viewing experience, even under bright sunlight. No other phone can compete with the GT 6T in peak brightness across any price segment (as of now).
Aside from its performance and display capabilities, this phone also provides excellent battery backup that will last throughout the day. The rapid charging speeds are also commendable. However, the design and cameras of this phone leave me wanting more.
Overall, despite fierce competition in the sub-Rs 35,000 segment — with the likes of iQOO Neo 9 Pro, the OnePlus Nord 3, the Moto Edge 50 Pro, and the Poco F6 available, the GT 6T certainly manages to meet almost all the expectations.
