Samsung’s Galaxy S series has sported a similar design for the past two-three years. More recently, a Taiwanese publication compared the hands-on images of the upcoming Galaxy S24 Ultra smartphone with the Galaxy S23 Ultra smartphone and the photos revealed an identical design with the existing Ultra smartphone. However, it looks like Samsung’s Galaxy S25 series, which is expected to launch in 2025, could sport some major design changes. And while the S25 launch is still a long time away, we have seen quite a few leaks regarding these phones.

Most recently, Tech Reve, a tipster on X (formerly Twitter), has revealed through a new post that Samsung wants to significantly improve the design aspects of the forthcoming Galaxy S series smartphones. According to Reve, Samsung has roped Ilhwan Lee, a former designer at Mercedes Benz, to lead the team at the Mobile Experience (MX) division in December 2022.

The former designer has been asked to redefine the design aspects of the upcoming Galaxy S series smartphones. The Galaxy S25 series will likely go official in the first month of 2025 given this is the typical timeline when the S series makes an appearance. The upcoming Galaxy S25 series smartphones are also tipped to have various improvements compared to their predecessors.

The tipster had earlier revealed in a separate post that Samsung will ditch ISOCELL GN3 sensors in the vanilla Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S25+ smartphones to make way for a Sony sensor. Some reports hint that Samsung will likely equip the S25 and S25+ smartphones with the Sony LYT 900 sensor. Samsung is reportedly working on a new 200MP sensor, which will debut with the Galaxy S25 Ultra smartphone.

The upcoming 1-inch sensor will have a sensor size of 1/0.98, a pixel pitch of 0.8μm, and a Horizontal and Vertical Dual Pixel Autofocus (H/V DPAF). The forthcoming 200MP 1-inch sensor will support 4x in-sensor zooming. Samsung will equip the upcoming vanilla Galaxy S25 series smartphones with Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chipsets in the North American markets.

Digital Chat Station, a well-known tipster, reveals that the upcoming Qualcomm chipset has the codename SUN and sports an Oryon CPU. The CPU will be fabricated using a 3nm process and will sport two high-performance Phoenix L cores and six power-efficient Phoenix M cores.

The upcoming Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chipset will likely perform similarly to the Apple M series chipsets. The chipset will equip Adreno 830 GPU, which is better than Apple M2’s GPU by more than 10%.

In related news, South Korean media reports that Samsung will equip the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 smartphone with a large cover and inner displays.

The upcoming foldable smartphone will be lighter despite sporting a large display. The aspect ratio of the cover display is also confirmed to change. The forthcoming Galaxy Z Flip 6 is also confirmed to undergo significant changes compared to its predecessor. The device’s cover screen and inner screen will be larger than its predecessor.
