MediaTek has launched a new chipset in its premium mid-range segment, the Dimensity 8250. It’s a 5G-enabled processor based on TSMC’s 4nm ultra-efficient architecture. The chipset also features a dedicated APU for accelerating AI-related tasks on smartphones. Here’s everything you should know about the new Dimensity 8250.

MediaTek Dimensity 8250: Specifications and Features

The MediaTek Dimesnity 8250 is an octa-core chipset with a maximum clock speed of 3.1GHz. It features a single Cortex-A78 core, three Cortex-A78 cores with a lower clock speed, and four Cortex-A55 cores. The chipset comes with 4MB of L3 cache.

The Dimensity 8250 is equipped with the Mali-G610 MC6 GPU. The chipset supports LPDDR5 RAM up to 6400Mbps speeds and is compatible with UFS 3.1 storage. The processor also features the MediaTek APU 580 for AI processing.

This new MediaTek chipset can drive primary cameras up to 320MP. It can also support triple rear cameras and capture videos at 4K 60fps in HDR. The processor can also handle WQHD+ displays at 120Hz, and Full HD+ displays at 180Hz.

The Dimensity 8250 features a fully integrated 5G modem that supports SA, NSA, and 3CC sub-6GHz 5G networks. The chipset offers maximum download speeds of up to 4.7Gbps. Other connectivity options include native support for WiFi 6E with 2×2 MIMO and Bluetooth 5.3.

The Dimensity 8250 also supports India’s NavIC navigation satellites. Furthermore, it is compatible with GPS, BeiDou, Glonass, Galileo, and QZSS navigation systems.

Devices with MediaTek Dimensity 8250

The upcoming OPPO Reno 12 is said to be the first device to feature the latest Dimensity 8250 chipset. The phone will launch in China first and eventually make it to European and other global markets. However, OPPO has not officially confirmed any details yet.

As the Dimensity 8250 is a refreshed version of the Dimensity 8200, we can expect devices featuring the new MediaTek chipset to be priced at around Rs 30,000. More companies are expected to introduce this processor in their mid-range devices in 2024, as the Dimensity 8250 brings a good balance between price, performance, and connectivity.
