  • HP has debuted a new HP AI Helix logo to represent its next-gen AI PCs.

In an unexpected announcement, HP has rebranded its entire consumer and commercial PC portfolio, excluding gaming laptops. It will use the prefixes Omni and Elite/Pro to represent consumer and commercial PCs. The company says the rebranding will simplify its portfolio and make it easier for customers to differentiate one PC from another.

Say Hello to HP Omni and Elite

HP’s previously used naming scheme for laptops was undoubtedly confusing, especially for a common user. It included HP Spectre, Dragonfly, Pavilion, and Envy. These names did not adequately explain what device is meant for what kind of buyer. The company is hoping to change that with the newly announced rebranding.

Starting with consumer PCs, HP says it will use a single prefix “Omni” followed by a signifier representing the product category. The OmniBook label will indicate laptops, OmniStudio will indicate all-in-one desktops, and OmniDesk will indicate traditional desktops.

HP will now use Elite and Pro prefixes for the commercial PC portfolio. The new names will be EliteBook, EliteStudio, EliteDesk, ProBook, ProStudio, and ProDesk.

These labels will have a number at the end representing the order in terms of performance and features. You will see 3, 5, 7, X, and U for consumer laptops and 2, 4, 6, 8, X, and U for commercial laptops.

The “X” represents the number 10, and the “U” is an abbreviated form for “Ultra.” HP will further use the descriptive modifiers “Fold” and “Flip” to represent PCs with different form factors.

HP has made it clear the rebranding will not affect gaming PCs. Its gaming PC portfolio will continue to be available under the OMEN branding.

A New Logo for HP AI Helix

HP has also taken the opportunity to unveil a new HP AI Helix logo. The logo has AI written in a way that resembles the DNA structure. It will indicate “devices and services across our portfolio built with trusted HP AI Engineering to deliver powerful, meaningful, and secure AI experiences,” according to the company’s press statement.

The first HP devices to carry the new HP AI Helix logo are the new HP OminiBook X and HP EliteBook Ultra AI PCs. The company says whenever you see the new logo on a device, it means the “device is at the forefront of AI innovation”.
