Google has started rolling out new features for Android smartphones, tablets, and Wear OS smartwatches. The new feature drop update follows the earlier update, which focused on AI integration on Android devices. Take a look at the newly introduced seven features for elevating everyday experiences.

New Android Features

Edit Your Messages After They Are Sent

Google has finally introduced an “edit” option for the messages sent on Google Messages. However, the feature is currently limited to messages sent on RCS (Rich Communication Services).

The messages can be edited by tapping and holding the sent message and clicking the “edit” button on the top bar. Google has limited its functionality to “edit” messages for up to 15 minutes.

Effortlessly Share Hotspots and Switch Between Devices for Video Calls

Users can connect Android tablets and Chromebooks to Android smartphone’s hotspots with a single tap. The new feature eliminates the need to type the password on Android tablets and Chromebooks. The search engine giant has also introduced another feature that allows users to switch between devices during video calls.

The devices can be switched by tapping on the “cast” icon and selecting between the connected smartphones. The two new features introduced by Google will be available to users in the coming weeks.

New Emoji Kitchen Combos

Google will soon roll out new emoji kitchen sticker combinations, and the emojis can be remixed. This can be shared with other users as stickers. The sticker will be created automatically after selecting any two emojis.

Control Google Home Devices From Home Screen

Android users can now add Google Home Favourite widgets to the home screen of Android smartphones. The widget can be used to control and manage the smart devices connected to the Google account. The widget is currently limited to users who sign up for public previews.

More Features

Google has also introduced new tiles for Wear OS-running smartwatches, which will be an extra shortcut on the watch face. The new tiles can be used to quickly view and control the smart devices connected to your account.

Wear OS smartwatch users can now make secured payments with PayPal on Google Wallet. However, the new feature is currently limited to Wear OS smartwatch users in the US and Germany.

Google has introduced digital car key support for selected MINI models. The feature will soon be expanded to Mercedez Benz and Polestar vehicles. The Digital Car Key can unlock, start, and lock vehicles with an Android smartphone.

The digitally stored keys can be securely shared with the user’s friends and families.
