Instagram Notes New Features

Instagram Notes Prompts

Prompts is a new Instagram Notes feature that helps you start conversations with your followers. It can be anything including a question that works as a starting point for a chat. You can see replies to your prompts in a new UI as shown in the image below. Each reply will be shown with the user’s profile picture and online status.

Instagram Notes Likes

This feature will allow your followers to leave “likes” on your Notes. It is similar to reacting to comments or stories by leaving a like. You can check the likes you have got too.

Instagram Notes Mentions

Instagram Notes Mentions is exactly what you are thinking. It is a feature that will let you tag friends in the Notes. You can use the “@” symbol to start tagging/mentioning friends. The person who has been mentioned will receive a notification once the Note has been shared.

These new features are available for Android and iOS users and should roll out to all gradually.

New Instagram Limit and Restrict Privacy Features

Instagram is expanding the capabilities of the Limits tool to enhance user privacy on the platform. The new feature will let users mute interactions from accounts excluded from the Closed Friends group. These include interactions like comments, mentions, story replies, tags, and messages. These limits can also be applied to your recent followers.

It is available for all users but is specifically aimed at teenagers. This is the reason it will be enabled for teens by default. This feature can be enabled by visiting the Limit Interactions option within the app settings.

Instagram has further improved the Restrict privacy feature. It now lets you limit interactions from specific accounts without blocking them. Such accounts won’t be able to tag or mention you and their comments will also be hidden. For this, you can select the Restrict option by tapping the three-dotted menu in your profile.
