Apple TV Android App is Reportedly in the Works

Mark Gurman of Bloomberg reports that Apple is currently looking for a senior engineer to develop a television and sports app for Android. This is a clear sign the tech giant is planning to bring its premium TV+ service to its rival operating system.

Apple is reportedly working on Apple TV Android app.

According to the job listing posted by the company, Apple is looking for an Android Software Engineer – Apple TV App. The senior android engineer will lead “the development of fun new features, and help build an application used by millions to watch and discover TV and sports.

As of now, Android users need to head to tv.apple.com to access Apple TV+ shows or sports content like the MLS Season Pass. A native Android app will make the whole streaming experience intuitive and offer features like offline downloads to improve user experience.

The Apple TV+ is the second Apple service on Android after Apple Music. The service offers exclusive Apple TV+ originals, Apple TV channels like HBO and Showtime, and sports content including Friday Night Baseball and the MLS Season Pass. While this sounds like exciting news, there is no word on when the Android app will arrive, and considering that the job listing was recently posted, it could be a while. There is also a chance this may not happen at all. We will keep you posted when we have official details. So, stick around!
