The Xbox Games Showcase 2024 delivered a whirlwind of announcements. The event served as a world premiere stage for several upcoming titles from Bethesda, Activision, and beyond. Fans witnessed exhilarating first looks at games like Doom: The Dark Ages, the next chapter in Gears of War, Indiana Jones, and the highly anticipated State of Decay 3.

Following the showcase, a dedicated 25-minute Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Direct provided a deep dive into the latest iteration of the beloved franchise, unveiling maps, progression details, the campaign story, release date and much more. Here are all the announcements from the event.

Xbox Games Showcase and Black Ops 6 Direct: All Announcements

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6

The Xbox Games Showcase began with the campaign trailer for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, set in the 1990s after the end of the Cold War. The trailer also offered a glimpse of the characters starring in this new instalment.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will launch for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X on October 25. It will also come to Xbox Game Pass on launch day.

Doom: The Dark Ages

Doom: The Dark Ages got a world premiere trailer at the event, a prequel adventure that rewinds time to explore the origins of the Doom Slayer from developer ID Software. A short, action-packed trailer showcased a brutal new conflict against the forces of Hell. While the core gameplay remains familiar – the Slayer boasts his signature speed, power, and trusty shotgun – this time he also wields a powerful shield for even more aggressive tactics.

Doom: The Dark Ages is confirmed for PC and Xbox Series X/S with a 2025 release window and will be a day-one title on Xbox Game Pass.

State of Decay 3

Revealed in 2020, State of Decay 3 resurfaced during the Xbox Games Showcase after a long wait. The new trailer showed a cinematic view of a world years after the zombie apocalypse.

Players will fight off a growing zombie threat and build a life for their community of survivors. The trailer also introduces some gruesome new enemies. There is no release date yet, but the game will be available on Game Pass from Day One.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard

BioWare unveiled a new trailer for Dragon Age: The Veilguard, the sequel to Dragon Age: Inquisition and the fourth major entry in the fantasy series. The trailer introduces your potential companions for this adventure: Harding the scout, Neve the detective, Emmrich the necromancer, Taash the dragon hunter, Davrin the warden, Bellara the veil-jumper, and Lucanis the mage-killer.

The first gameplay reveal will be on Tuesday, June 11, at 4 pm UK time. Dragon Age: The Veilguard will be released on PC and Xbox Series X/S in autumn 2024.

Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater

Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, a remake of the 2004 PS2 classic, resurfaced with a new gameplay trailer showcasing updated graphics and 3D audio for the Big Boss prequel. While the core story remains untouched, the game boasts a complete graphical overhaul and immersive 3D audio to bring the jungles of the Cold War era to life. Players can switch to the original play style and control scheme. The trailer showcased iconic story moments, Snake’s signature CQC combat, and even a thrilling helicopter fight.

A release date for Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is still under wraps.

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle unveiled a new trailer filled with ancient ruins, hidden secrets, and formidable Nazis. Set between Raiders of the Lost Ark and The Last Crusade, Indiana Jones faces sinister forces while unravelling one of history’s greatest mysteries. The gameplay trailer from MachineGames highlights cinematics and whip-wielding action in the Himalayas.

Although the exact release date is unannounced, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle will be available on Windows PC and Xbox Series X in 2024 and Day One on Game Pass.

Gears of War: E-Day

Gears of War is back with a prequel, Gears of War: E-Day! This new entry, the sixth instalment in the franchise, will be available on Game Pass day one upon release. While a release date is still unknown, the trailer hints at a brutal fight for survival against the newly emerged Locust Horde 14 years before the events of the first game.

Starfield: Shattered Space

Starfield’s inaugural expansion, Shattered Space, has arrived. Bethesda’s trailer shows how it expands the vast sci-fi RPG universe with vibrant new locales and narrative twists. While no specific release date was given, it’s set to launch in 2024. Shattered Space delves into a cosmic threat emerging in Dazra, on House Va’Ruun’s hidden homeworld. Players will investigate, uncover unique weapons and gear, and explore new locales like a mysterious space station and uncharted planets.

Starfield is also receiving a smaller update today featuring new bounties and other content created by Bethesda and the Starfield community.

Fallout 76

Bethesda Softworks unveils significant updates for Fallout 76. The Skyline Valley expansion arrives on June 12, 2024, offering a fresh region in Appalachia with mysteries like an electrical storm and Vault 63’s secrets.

Fallout 76 will expand character creation options with the introduction of playable Ghouls in early 2025.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, the debut game from Sandfall Interactive got a new reveal at the showcase. Set in a fantastical world, you lead a desperate expedition in this turn-based RPG. Your mission is to stop the Paintress, a powerful artist who dooms humanity with each stroke of her brush.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 features surreal locations and unique enemies, ensuring an exciting adventure and will arrive on Xbox Series X/S and PC in 2025. It will also be on Game Pass from Day One.

South of Midnight

South of Midnight, the upcoming game from Compulsion Games, made its debut with a gameplay trailer showcasing its folktale setting and third-person action style. Set in Prospero town after a devastating hurricane, players follow the protagonist, Hazel, through a Southern Gothic world where reality blends with fantasy.

Scheduled for release in 2025 on Xbox Series X/S and PC, it is also coming to Day One on Game Pass.

Perfect Dark

Developed by The Initiative and Crystal Dynamics, Perfect Dark re-emerged at the event after years of anticipation with a stunning gameplay trailer. This action-packed reboot throws players back into the world of Agent Joanna Dark as she tackles a global conspiracy fueled by futuristic technology. The trailer showcased a mix of stealthy infiltration and intense gun battles, hinting at a return to the classic Perfect Dark formula.

While a release date remains under wraps, Perfect Dark is confirmed to be available as day one on Xbox Game Pass.

World of Warcraft: The War Within

Microsoft revealed the latest expansion for World of Warcraft, titled The War Within, with a release date set for August 26, 2024. This eagerly anticipated DLC drop for the fantasy MMO promises players an immersive journey into a new saga, as hinted at in the atmospheric cinematic trailer. This marks the first expansion under Microsoft’s ownership of Blizzard Entertainment, and players only have to wait a little over two months to dive into the new content.

Age of Mythology: Retold

Age of Mythology Retold, the follow-up to the classic real-time strategy game from the creators of Age of Empires, takes players on a journey through myth. The game offers players the chance to command gods from Greek, Norse, Egyptian, and Atlantean mythology across 50 missions, merging old-school charm with contemporary strategy design and visuals.

Set for release on September 4, 2024, for Xbox Series X/S and PC, the game will be available as day one on Xbox Game Pass.

Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn

Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn is a Soulslike game where players hunt down and kill gods with the help of a flying, talking fennec fox. The game will be released on July 18 on PC, Xbox Series X|S, and will be available on Game Pass from day one.

Fable

The long-awaited gameplay trailer for Fable showcased its magical wonder, dangerous monsters, and retired heroes, hinting at a journey where choices have lasting consequences. The new footage featured a retired hero named Humphry, who warns about the challenges in this new magical world.

Fable will be available on Xbox Series X/S, PC, and Day One on Game Pass in 2025.

Life is Strange: Double Exposure

Square Enix and Deck Nine Games have revealed “Life Is Strange: Double Exposure,” the next instalment in the series, featuring Max Caulfield. In this supernatural murder mystery, Max uses her time-skipping powers to navigate parallel universes and solve the same murder across two timelines.

The game is set to launch on October 29, 2024, on PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PS5.

New Xbox Consoles

Microsoft also unveiled upgraded Xbox Series X and S consoles with additional storage. This includes a 2TB SSD Xbox Series X, a 1TB SSD Xbox Series X, and an all-digital, white Xbox Series X with 1TB storage priced at $450. Sarah Bond confirmed that Microsoft is developing its next-generation console and revealed new colours for the Xbox Series X and S. These consoles are set to be released this holiday season.

Everything Else Announced

  • NetEase Games and Bad Guitar will release the 5v5 hero shooter FragPunk with a gameplay modifier card system for Xbox Series X|S and PC in 2025.
  • Winter Burrow, a cosy survival game by an undisclosed developer, will launch in early 2025 for Xbox Game Pass, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
  • Mixtape, a narrative adventure featuring music from famous artists, will launch in 2025 for Xbox Game Pass, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
  • The serene aeroplane sim Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 will be released on November 19, 2024, for Xbox Series X|S and PC.
  • Leenzee Games and 505 Games will launch the action RPG Wuchang: Fallen Feathers on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC in 2024.
  • Obsidian’s RPG Avowed, featuring fire and ice magic combat, will be released in 2024 for Xbox Game Pass, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
  • Rebellion’s first-person survival action game Atomfall, set in a nuclear wasteland, will be released in 2025 for Xbox Game Pass, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC.
  • Assassin’s Creed Shadows, set in Japan, will feature brutal stealth gameplay and launch in 2024 for Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5 and PC.
  • GSC Game World’s FPS survival game S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl will arrive on September 5, 2024, for Xbox Series X/S and PC.
  • Blizzard’s Diablo IV: Vessel of Hatred expansion, set in the lush jungles of Nahantu, will launch on October 8, 2024.
  • Rare’s Sea of Thieves will introduce ships with flamethrowers in Season 13, launching on July 25, 2024, for Xbox Series X/S and PC.
  • MechaBreak, a Gundam game offering ground and aerial combat, will be released in 2025 for Xbox Series X/S and PC.
  • Bethesda’s Elder Scrolls Online will offer all DLC for free for a limited time to celebrate its 10th anniversary, with the Gold Road update arriving on June 18, 2024.
