Apple’s focus on gaming continues with a new set of announcements at WWDC 2024. It revealed Game Mode and Spatial Audio support for Apple devices, enhancing the gaming experience. It also showcased 14 new games headlined by Ubisoft’s upcoming title Assassin’s Creed Shadows. Let’s have a closer look at these announcements.
Game Mode and Spatial Audio
After debuting on Mac last year, Game Mode is finally coming to iPhone with iOS 18 later this year. It is dedicated to delivering an uninterrupted and improved gaming experience. It will pause background app activity and temporarily pause notifications so that you can play your favourite games without any distractions.
It should help players get consistent frame rates on supported devices and games, especially during long play sessions. This mode can also improve the performance of Bluetooth accessories like AirPods and wireless controllers to make them more responsive.
Personalized Spatial Audio is another new feature Apple has in store for delivering an impressive gameplay experience. It offers dynamic head tracking and will be available on the AirPods 3, the AirPods Pro, and the AirPods Max. Gamers will get the “best wireless audio latency” and improved voice quality including 16-bit, 48kHz audio while chatting with other players.
New Games Coming to Apple Devices
Apple has revealed that Assassin’s Creed Shadows will come to Macs and iPads. It did not mention iPhone but considering the recently released Assassin’s Creed Mirage is available for iPhone, the upcoming title should also land on Apple’s smartphones.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows is an upcoming Ubisoft AAA game that will launch on November 15. It will be the newest title in the iconic Assassin’s Creed franchise set in ancient Japan. The game will have two protagonists Naoe, a stealthy shinobi, and Yasuke, a powerful samurai.
