Masala Games, an Indian independent game developer, has confirmed that its upcoming mystery adventure game Detective Dotson will also be released on Xbox. The game will be available for Xbox Series consoles, i.e., Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S. A specific release date or timeline has not been shared yet.
Detective Dotson will be released on Xbox as part of the ID@Xbox Developer Acceleration Program. It is a program meant to support new and “underrepresented” developers so that they can bring their projects and ideas to Xbox. It is the first time Masala Games will have its game available for Xbox players.
Detective Dotson Game Details
Masala Games first announced Detective Dotson for PC gamers earlier this year. It can be added to the wishlist on Steam, and a free demo is also available. The mystery adventure game features an Indian setting, environment, and characters.
Dotson is the protagonist on a quest to find his father’s killers. As the name suggests, Dotson has to utilise his detective abilities to gather clues, disguise himself when needed, and interact with different characters to find the killers.
Masala Games says the game is inspired by modern Indian pop culture, such as Bollywood and crime dramas like CID. This is why you will feel familiar while on your detective journey.
The game will have a single-player episodic story and two-player couch co-op levels. The studio has collaborated with Nikhil Rao of Indian Ocean for the game’s authentic and original soundtrack. While you wait for the game’s Xbox release, you can try the free Detective Dotson demo on PC via Steam. It has a planned release timeline of Q4 2024 on the platform. We can expect the Xbox release to happen around the same time.
