After a long wait, fans of the survival horror game Alan Wake 2 can finally rejoice as details about the first expansion have been revealed. Remedy Entertainment took to the stage at Summer Game Fest 2024 to announce Night Springs, the first DLC for Alan Wake 2, which is set to be released for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S on June 8th.
Alan Wake 2 DLC NightSprings Launched
Alan Wake 2: Night Springs marks the game’s first DLC, launching nearly eight months after the game’s initial release. This intriguing DLC features a what-if scenario where three well-known characters from the Alan Wake universe embark on distinct storylines, adopting the format of Night Springs, an in-game TV show reminiscent of bizarre series like The Twilight Zone.
Players will explore three scenarios:
- Rose’s Journey: Rose, the Nite’s Diner waitress, embarks on a quest to rescue Alan Wake, the horror writer. Fans will recognize Rose from the Oh Deer! Diner in the game universe, where she is a devoted Alan Wake fan.
- Sheriff Breaker’s Show: Portrayed by Shawn Ashmore in Alan Wake 2, Sheriff Breaker has become a television personality, starring in a TV show about being the champion of light. The show is directed by a character played by Sam Lake himself.
- Jesse Faden’s Confrontation: Jesse Faden from Control arrives in Night Springs to confront a coffee cult.
The Night Springs DLC’s connection to Alan Wake 2’s main story remains a mystery, and there’s no word on a potential third game. The expansion will offer 12 new challenges with trophies/achievements to test your skills. In addition to the DLC, Alan Wake 2 is receiving a photo mode as part of a free update today.
Expansion Pass and Physical Release
The Night Springs DLC is included with the Alan Wake 2 Expansion Pass, which comes with the digital Deluxe Edition. Standard Edition owners can upgrade to the Deluxe Edition for $20, which will also include the upcoming DLC, The Lake House, set to release in October.
Alan Wake 2 will also get a physical release on October 22, 2024, priced at $79.99. The physical Deluxe Edition will include various content such as the game, the expansion pass, reversible cover art, and more.
