The official Xbox Wire blog post announces that Black Ops 6 will be available on Xbox Game Pass as a Day One release. “We’re excited to confirm that Game Pass members will be able to jump into Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 on day one with Game Pass,” says Megan Spurr, senior community lead of Xbox Game Pass.

It is the first Call of Duty game to make it to Day One release on Game Pass following Microsoft’s $69 billion acquisition of Activision Blizzard.

Prior to this, the Xbox Game Pass mobile app started rolling out push notifications announcing the game’s availability on Microsoft’s Subscription service.

Along with the announcement, a new one-minute action reveal trailer titled “The Truth Lies” was released for the game. This trailer confirmed the availability of both console and PC versions of Game Pass.

While the brief Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 trailer keeps the story under wraps, it offers some intriguing clues. Several historical figures with ties to the Gulf War era appear, including Dick Cheney, Margaret Thatcher (the late UK Prime Minister), Bill Clinton, and Saddam Hussein (believed to be the Game’s antagonist). These cameos and the focus on “hiding war secrets” suggest the campaign is set during that pivotal Gulf War conflict.

CharlieIntel, an X account well-known for CoD-related news, also claims that Russell Adler from Black Ops Cold War will reappear in Black Ops 6.

Microsoft plans to reveal more about Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 during a dedicated stream following the main Xbox summer showcase on June 9. That’s where players can expect to learn more about the game’s features and possibly even the release date.

The primary Xbox showcase will highlight a new Gears of War announcement and the next Doom game. Additionally, the showcase will announce release dates for upcoming Xbox titles such as Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, Avowed, and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle.

According to the Verge’s Tom Warren, there was some back-and-forth at Microsoft about adding the next Call of Duty to Xbox Game Pass. The worry was that people wouldn’t buy the game if they could play it on Game Pass. After all, Call of Duty games are huge sellers, typically moving over 20 million copies at $70 each. It remains to be seen if the Game Pass release will affect Black Ops 6‘s sales figures.

While Microsoft hasn’t mentioned any changes to Game Pass pricing, speculation suggests a price increase could be announced at the Xbox Showcase in June.
